The Virtual Flaminio Orchestra is the outgrowth of Terenzio Sacchi Lodispoto’s passion for classical music. He is not only its founder but also – literally – its factotum.

After years of passive listening to music he felt the need to understand it better and he therefore registered for a piano course at the School Ciac Music of Rome.

This experience gave him a concrete knowledge of music and put him in contact with a very stimulating and youthful milieu that encouraged interest in new technologies.

During his apprenticeship Professor Feliciano Zacchia taught him the rudiments of the piano and made him aware of the possibility of using a digital keyboard with a computer. With Carlo Cittadini he improved his familiarity with the piano and took a course in harmony.

The rest followed: you buy a digital piano for your training, you try to connect it with an obsolete computer in your office, you amplify the sound-wave potential by adding an external sound generator. It works, but the result is poor and unpleasant. You change computer. The system is limited. You add a second, then a third sound generator to increase the sound possibilities and you go up to five sound generators. The violins have a sound that is not very convincing. You substitute your instrument with a more appropriate one. It is no longer possible to manage all the machinery. A mixer becomes indispensable and so on.

The Virtual Flaminio Orchestra was born this way. “Virtual” because it is composed not of musicians but of electronic devices integrated in a computer.

To this one must add Terenzio Sacchi’s passion for classical music. Today he is able to take the score of a symphony, to record the parts of the individual instruments in his computer with the help of his digital piano and to rearrange them until he obtains a performance which is his interpretation of the compositor’s original work.

Terenzio Sacchi Lodispoto records his CDs under the label LA MUSICA FATTA IN CASA – HOME MADE MUSIC – and distributes them for free to music lovers. Now he has decided to broaden the circle of his friends with the creation of this site on the web. In this way he has made it possible to download music for free by going to the page The Music.
