God speaks Abraham my servant Abraham, Take Isaac, thy son by name That you lovest the best of all, and in sacrifice offer him to me upon that hill besides thee. Abraham I will that so it be, for aught that may befall. |
Dio parla Abramo, servo mio, prendi Isacco, tuo figlio che tu prediligi sovra ogni cosa, e offrilo in sacrificio a me su quella collina. Abramo, voglio che cio avvenga, qualunque cosa accada. |
Abraham My Lord, to Thee is mine intent, ever to be obedient. That son that You to me hast sent offer I will to Thee. Thy bidding done shall be. |
Abramo Signore, in Te è il mio destino, esserti sempre obbediente. Il figlio che mi hai mandato lo voglio offrire a Te. La Tua offerta sarà compiuta. |
And
Abraham, turning him to his son Isaac, saith: Make thee ready, my dear darling. For we must do a little thing. This woode do an thy back it bring, we may no longer abide. A sword and fire that I will take, for sacrifice behoves me to make; God's bidding will I not forsake, but ever obedient be. |

Abramo, rivolto a Isacco dice: Preparati, figlio caro. Abbiamo una cosa da compiere. Prendi questo legno sulla tua schiena, non aspetteremo per lungo tempo. Prendero una lama e del fuoco per un sacrificio che devo compiere; non voglio trascurare l'offerta del Signore, ma essere sempre obbediente. |
Here
Isaac speaketh to his father, and taketh a bundle of sticks and beareth
after his father, and saith: Father I am all ready to do your bidding most meekely, and to bear this wood full bayn am I, as you commanded me. |

Isacco parla a suo padre , prende un po' di fascine e le porta dietro
suo padre e dice: Padre, sono pronto e docile a compiere la tua offerta, e voglio portare questa legna, come tu mi hai comandato. |

Abraham Now, Isaac son, go we our way to yonder mount if that we may. |

Abraham
being minded to slay his son Isaac, lifts up his hands, and saith the
following: O! My heart will break in three, yo hear thy words I have pitye; as Yhou wilt, Lorde, so must it be, to Thee I will be bayn. Lay down thy faggot, my own son dear. |
Abramo,
dovendo uccidere il figlio Isacco, solleva le mani e dice quanto segue: Oh! il mio cuore si spezzerà in due, se ascolto le tue parole ho pieta di te; come Tu vuoi, Signore, così deve essere, faro la tua volonta. Metti a terra il tuo carico, figliolo caro. |
Isaac All ready father, lo it is here. But why make you such heavy cheer? Are you anything adread? |
Isacco Ecco padre, tutto è pronto. Ma perché un invito così mesto? C'è qualcosa che ti turba? |
Abraham Ah! Dear God! That me is woe! |
Abramo Ah! Mio Dio! Questa è la mia pena! |
Isaac Father, if it be your will, Where is the beast that we shall kill? |
Isacco Padre sia fatto il tuo volere. Ma dov'è la bestia da sacrificare? |
Abraham Thereof, son is none upon this hill. |
Abramo Nessuna ve n'è, figliolo, su questa collina. |
Isaac Father, I am full sore affeared to see you bear that drawne sword. |

Abraham Isaac, son, peace, I pray thee, thou breakest my heart even in three. |

Isaac I pray you, father, layn nothing from me, but tell me what you think. |

Abraham Ah! Isaac, Isaac, I must thee kill! |

Isaac Alas! Father, is that your will, your own child for to spill upon this hilles brink? If I have trespassed in any degreee with a yard you may beat me; put up your sword, if your will be, for I am but a child. Would God my mother were here with me! She would kneel down upon her knee, praying you, father, if it may be, for to save my life. |
Isacco Ohimè! Padre, è questo che vuoi, buttare tuo figlio da questo colle? Se ho trasgredito in qualche modo con un bastone potrai picchiarmi; metti via la spada, se pure è la tua, perché non sono che un bambino. Volesse Iddio che mia madre fosse qui con me! Essa s'inginocchierebbe, pregandoti, padre, di risparmiarmi la vita. |
Abraham O Isaac, son, to thee I say God hath commanded me today sacrifice, this is no nay, to make of thy bodye. |
Abramo Isacco, figlio mio, ti dico che Iddio oggi mi ha chiesto in sacrificio il tuo corpo. |
Isaac Is it God's will I shall be slain? |
Isacco È volontà di Dio che io sia ucciso? |
Abraham Yea, son, it is not for to layn. |
Abramo Sì, figliolo, non posso nascondertelo. |

Isaac asketh his father''s blessing on his knees, and saith: Father, seeing you muste needs do so, let it pass lightly and over go; kneeling on my knees two, your blessing on me spread. |

Isacco chiede in ginocchio la benedizione paterna e dice: Padre, poiché così deve essere, che accada presto e andiamo oltre; m'inginocchio perché su di me si sparga la tua benedizione. |
Abraham My blessing, dear son, give I thee and thy mother's with hearth free. The blessing of the Trinity, my dear Son, on thee light. |
Abramo La mia benedizione, figlio caro, io la do a te e a tua madre con cuore leggero. La benedizione della Trinità, figliolo caro, su te risplenda. |

Isaac riseth and cometh to his father, and he taketh him, and bindeth
and layeth him upon the altar to sacrifice him, and saith: Come hither, my child, thou are so sweet, Thou must be bound both hands and feet. |

Isacco si alza e si avvicina al padre, ed egli lo prende e lo lega e lo
pone sull'altare del sacrificio e dice: Vieni qui, figliolo, sei così dolce, dovrò legarti e mani e piedi. |
Isaac Father, do with me as you will, I must obey, and that is skill, Godes commandment to fulfill, for needs so it must be. |
Isacco Padre, fai di me ciò che vuoi, io devo obbedire ed è mio compito, obbedire al Signore, perché così deve essere. |
Abraham Isaac, Isaac, blessed must thou be. |
Abramo Isacco, Isacco, che tu sia benedetto. |
Isaac Father, greet well my brethren ying, and pray my mother of her blessing, I come no more under her wing, farewell for evber and aye. |
Isacco Padre, saluta il mio fratello e prega mia madre di benedirmi, non andrò più sotto la sua ala protettrice, addio per sempre e così sia. |
Abraham Farewell, my sweete son of grace! |

Isaac I pray you , father, turn down my face, for I am sore adread. |

Abraham Lord, full loth were him to kill! |
Abramo Signore, tocca a me ucciderlo! |
Isaac Ah, mercy, father, why tarry you so? |
Isacco Pietà, padre mio, perché esiti così? |
Abraham Jesu! On me have pity, that I have most in mind. |
Abramo Gesù! Abbi pietà di me poiché sono sopraffatto. |
Isaac Now father, I see that I shall die: Almighty God in majesty! My soul I offer unto Thee! |
Isacco Adesso, padre, mi accorgo che devo morire: Dio Onnipotente nella Sua maestà! La mia anima offro a Te! |
Abraham To do this deed I am sorrye. |
Abramo Compiere questo sacrificio mi strazia. |

speaks Abraham, my servant dear, lay not thy sword in no manner on Isaac, thy dear darling. For you dreadest me, well wot, I,t That of thy son has no mercy, yo fulfil my bidding. |
Dio
parla Abramo, mio caro servo, non usare la tua spada su Isacco, il tuo figliolo caro. Perché tu mi hai temuto, non è su tuo figlio che dovrai compiere la mia offerta. |
Abraham Ah, Lord of heaven and King of bliss, thy bidding shall be done, i-wiss! A horned wether here I see, among the briars tied is he, To Thee offered shall be anon right in this place. |
Abramo Ah, Signore dei cieli e Re di beatitudine, il tuo sacrificio sarà compiuto. Vedo qui un montone, intrappolato fra i rovi, sarà offerto subito qui a Te. |
Then let Abraham take the lamb and kill him. | E Abramo prende il montone e lo uccide |
Abraham Sacrifice here sent me is, and all, Lord, through Thy grace. |
Abramo Questo è il mio sacrificio, Signore, per la Tua gloria. |
envoi Such obedience grant us, O Lord! Ever to Thy most holy word. That in the same we may accord As this Abraham was bayn; And then altogether shall we That worthy King in heaven see, And dwell with Him in great glorye For ever and ever. Amen |
envoi Questa obbedienza accogli per noi, Signore! Sempre per la Tua sacra parola. E nello stesso modo possiamo fare ciò che Abramo ha voluto; e nello stesso modo vedremo la dignità del Re dei cieli e cresceremo con Lui nella gloria Nei secoli dei secoli. Amen. |
